Spinning Back in Time
Millbank Studios is used to playing host to high profile politicians, but the sight of Benjamin Disraeli and William Gladstone wandering the corridors in December turned a few heads. They were actually actors in full period costume, taking part in Simon Smith's series, Building Britain, for BBC Parliament, filmed at Millbank Studios and on location. In Studio 1, lighting cameraman Michael Carney used all his creativity and resourcefulness to recreate a low budget House of Commons. Simon produced, wrote the script and directed the programme, which is presented by BBC's Carole Walker. There were also a further 2 days shooting with the actors on location at Hugendon Manor, a former home of Disraeli 's and Carlton House Terrace, Gladstone's former residence.
These are the fourth and fifth programmes in this series produced, written and directed by Millbank Studios Simon Smith and to be shown on BBC Parliament in the coming months.
